About Task Force „Gesundheitsoekonomische Gesamtrechnungen (Health Economic Accounting)“

The importance of the health industry as a dynamic growth area in economic and employment terms has increasingly become the focus of public attention in recent years. The activities for the statistical representation of this area are grouped under the term „health economic accounting“.

The implementation of health economic accounting is limited to date to the national level. But there is also demand for data on the laender level („NUTS 1“). We have made it our task to develop the methodological foundations for a sustainable implementation of health economic accounts at the laender level. See the following figure.

 

First results

One important area of our activity is accounting expenditures on health services. We have developed a documentation which makes it possible to carry out accounting of health expenditure in the laender. See here.

Results are already available for Baden-Wuerttemberg, Nordrhein-Westfalen and Saxony. See the following tables and graphics:
